Happy February my loves! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I’m giving you an easy to achieve look with Maybelline. I’m even teaching you how to do a fool proof cat eye to go with it. A couple weeks ago, I taught you how to create a flawless face. Let’s build on that with this eye look that can really go with almost any lip color for Looks To Love.
When doing a cat eye, especially as a beginner, it’s best to start with your eyes. If you do happen to make a mistake, it’s easily fixed without removing any face makeup.
First off, I like to prime my lids. I apply a little foundation all over the lid followed by a shadow primer.
Grab the light gold color (second from the top left corner) and pat it all over your lid.
Next, mix the two colors from the bottom left together. This will be your crease color. If you are lighter in complexion than me, use the far left color first. If you desire more depth you can always mix them. It’s always easier to add color than remove it.
With your finger or small fluffy brush apply the white shade under your brows and in the inner corner of your eye. This will give the appearance of being well rested.
What I love about The Blushed Nudes Palette is how it basically has three eyeshadow quads or six different duos. It’s such a great bargain to start with but this makes it a steal! How do you not buy it?!
If you can’t tell by the picture, my big secret to a perfect cat eye is not-so-secret anymore. Yes, I use scotch tape. I always use this method when I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to freehand my wing. I suggest that you apply the tape to the back of your hand before placing it on your face. It won’t tug on your eye area as much when you remove it.
Place the tape where you would want the bottom of your wing to be. Draw the tail of your wing right along the edge of the tape. I used the Master Precise Eyeliner Pen from Maybelline. Make sure your line is thinnest at the end. Then, draw a line along your lash line by using a dotting method. Connect lash-to-lash with your eyeliner pen to fill in any spaces between them. You can draw a smooth line after this. If you are a beginner it can be tricky to get a smooth line at first. Practice makes perfect!
Connect the liner on your wing and lash line together.
Pump those lashes up with Maybelline’s Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. This has been my go-to for the past few months. I used to be a Falsies devotee until I upgraded to this formula. The push up cup brush scoops and lifts your lashes. For Valentine’s Day, feel free to add some individuals for an extra flirty look. Don’t apply any mascara to your bottom lashes just yet!
Now, it’s time to apply your face makeup as seen in my Master Your Face post.
Grab the second color from the bottom left with a pencil brush and apply to your lower lash line. I like to use a pencil brush because it creates a much softer line.
See what I mean? Much softer than a regular eyeshadow brush!
Grab your Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara and wiggle it onto your bottom lashes.
For a pink pout use the nourishing Maybelline Color Sensational LipColor. I’m using shade #705 Blushing Bud.
For a more traditional Valentine’s Day look I used #645 Red Revival.
The subtle blue tones made my teeth look super white!
Expert tip: apply red lip liner all over your lips before your lipstick. This will extend the wear of your red hot lips. This lipstick is super creamy thanks to the honey nectar in the formula.
I picked everything I needed for this look at my local Walmart. Grab these fabulous makeup items from Maybelline and tag me in your pictures. I’d love to see how you recreate the look!
What do you guys think of this look? Do you own any of these items? I know I’m heading back to pick up some more Maybelline Color Sensational LipColor shades!
