I always get these desires to change my hair color. Sometimes I want it light and others I want it dark. There is no real in-between. Lately I have been wanting to go on the dark side. Well, I did just that. Instead of spending time in a salon, I used John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Shampoo, Conditioner, and In-Shower Treatment.
I used the Brilliant Brunette Visibly Deeper Colour Deepening Shampoo and Conditioner as I normally would. They both were tinted with a beautiful, rich brown. The cocoa and evening primrose formula gradually deepens hair in the shower.
The Visibly Deeper Colour Deepening Treatment totally kicked my hair up a notch! The instructions said to use the product for 5-10 minutes, but I opted to leave the treatment in for ten minutes for a deeper color result.
While letting the treatment saturate in my hair I relaxed in the bathtub. I don’t remember the last time I did that! It was so relaxing and my hair color turned out great!
Look at what a difference one treatment made! It covered so much of the lighter color and really brought my hair back to its natural state. Without the damage of traditional hair color I was able to alter it safely. The Colour Deepening Treatment is safe for both natural and color-treated hair. The product says it deepens and darkens brunette tones up to 1 shade, but with my longer treatment application I was able to get a really rich chocolate brown.
To compliment my Visibly Deeper hair I decided to create a really natural brown eye makeup look.
To start, I love to prime my lids and apply a soft taupe color to my crease. It isn’t necessary, but I like to do it for my hooded eyes. Plus, it makes the transition with the shades I’m about to apply much more smooth.
With a flat eyeshadow brush, apply a light gold shade. I’m not going for an in-your-face metallic look here. You want a shimmer shade that is slightly lighter than your skin tone. I recommend applying some in the corner of your eye to brighten it up. It helps make you look more awake.
Smudge a dark brown color on your upper lash line to make your lashes look fuller. I like to use a small pencil or flat smudge brush for this step.
Softly apply the dark brown shade along your lower lash line using a small pencil brush.
I like to go back with a dark brown eyeshadow and a blending brush in the outer V c of my eye. For this look, I am not going to go crazy in terms of making it darker. I really just want to create a little bit of a shadow and dimension.
Curl your lashes, apply mascara and voila! You have a neutral eye look that compliments your enhanced hair color.
I love how the browns compliment my Brilliant Brunette Visibly Darker hair. If you have a desire to go lighter, head to your local Target and try the Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter or Sheer Blonde Go Blonder hair regimen. Right now you can buy 3 products and get a $5 Target Gift Card.
